CHARACTER NAME: Madoka Kaname
CANON & HISTORY: Wiki pages for the anime, the movie Rebellion and Madoka herself.
AGE: Madoka looks and acts 14; however, because she is technically a law of nature and not a human, she's timeless. As she is, she'll follow the rules of the setting, and would age appropriately along with it.
CANON POINT: Rebellion, right when Homura freezes time at Mami's apartment in order to interrogate Bebe.
PERSONALITY: Madoka is a very kind and gentle girl who cherishes her friends and family, and who will (literally!) drag herself to hell and back for them — she is willing to take their burdens and despair onto herself, so they never lose sight of their hope or happiness. Outwardly, she is cheerful and personable, makes friends easily and is generally well liked by the people she meets and interacts with.

Madoka harbors an overwhelming, desperate hope that the world is good, and that people, despite the way they act or what they do, are ultimately good as well. This is the most important part of the way that Madoka sees the world, and it's this major viewpoint that drives most of her actions — though in the anime, it was often to a fault. She has gone out of her way to try to reconcile her friends' poor (and even violent) relations with each other, and she has accepted or sought out friendship from people who give her no good reason to (e.g. Homura).

She believes in the good of the world so much that she wished to become the literal embodiment of hope for all magical girls — she wished to stop, with her own hands, every single witch that ever was or ever will be from being born, taking on their despair herself, and sacrificing her own human existence in the process. ("If someone tells me that it's wrong to hope, I'll tell them they're wrong every time.") She is the hope that helps Homura break through the Incubators' isolation chamber toward the end of Rebellion. She is the hope that leads away all magical girls before they fall into despair — at least, she is until she arrives to lead Homura away.

That's one of Madoka's flaws, too. Prove her incredibly pure views about the world and the goodness in people wrong, and her own emotional world tends to crumble.

Another factor that affects how Madoka approaches the world is how she compares herself to the people she admires. She admires, for instance, her mother's strength and intelligence, and her mother is the main person that Madoka has tried to emulate throughout her life. It's safe to say that if Madoka were to encounter a person whose character she genuinely admires, then she would take any advice offered from that person to heart, and would try to apply it in the next situation she's up against. Though, this has had disastrous results before: when advised to "make a mistake" for her friend, Madoka threw away Sayaka's soul gem, revealing to everyone the true nature of soul gems and magical girls. That fact was a major pivot point that led to Sayaka's downfall.

It is arguable that helping others before herself is what truly makes Madoka happy. In the anime, in every single timeline that she makes a wish and becomes a magical girl with the idea of helping others in mind, she shifts from a timid person with low self-confidence to a a courageous and confident one, and someone who stands up against adversity and danger without any reservations. Though she doesn't necessarily see herself as capable as other magical girls like Mami, she happily and confidently stands up for what's right, and to fight for those who can't.

Is she ultimately happy with her final wish, a wish that ultimately erased her human existence and led to everyone forgetting about her? A scene in Rebellion makes that debatable: Madoka tells Homura that she would be too chicken to leave everyone behind, even if it was in order to do something really important, and that she would never do something that would hurt her friends and family like that. Of course, Madoka also doesn't remember the wish she made, and why she chose to do it — and Homura doesn't exactly rush to explain it. But, considering Madoka's shift in personality in the numerous timelines before this one, it's safe to assume that she is happy that she is able to help at all.

There is a facet of Madoka's personality that is not present at this canon point, but it would be factored in once Madoka discovers she can't use her magical girl powers, or if she for some reason forgets being a magical girl entirely. Here, there's a sadness about her — a timidness, a naivete, and lack of faith in herself that stands in the way of her desperate desire to help, to protect her friends. When presented with difficult situations, she second-guesses herself, which can lead to her freezing, even if she might find inaction just as terrifying as confronting it.

The greatest example of this is pretty much the entire anime up until about the end of episode 11: For most of the series, she is pulled in different directions, from wanting to help but lacking the ability, to Homura stopping her from becoming a magical girl, to disbelief when she's told that she's anything but an average girl, and that there's nothing particularly special about her.

One final note: At this canon point in Rebellion, Madoka does not remember her wish to erase all witches. She has been given false memories of being part of a magical girl team (Puella Magi Holy Quintet!), and her strong and confident personality reflects that.
POWERS: Madoka has two forms at this canon point with different powers that I want to touch on; however, the second form would not exist very long in-game, if at all. With mod permission, it's just something I'd like to have interact with others at the end of Madoka's character arc and time in the game.

Magical girl

Using the power of her soul gem, Madoka transforms into her magical girl form. She's even lucky enough this go around to get her own transformation sequence! Her basic powers include:

Bow and arrow: Using a magically summoned bow, Madoka shoots beams of pink energy at enemies to deal explosive damage.

Super agility: Madoka does a lot of her fighting mid-air. She can jump at inhuman heights and speeds, and she can easily maneuver through the confusing landscapes of Nightmares/Witches/what-have-you. She can also balance on tiny things like the end of the hilt of a sword, because why not?

Super endurance: When a contract is made and someone becomes a magical girl, her soul is torn from her body and placed into a soul gem. This allows a magical girl to fight and take on incredible injury without dying. Technically, the only way to kill a magical girl is to destroy her soul gem, or for her soul gem to become completely corrupted (more on that shortly). Additionally, a soul gem cannot be separated more than 100 meters from a magical girl's body, otherwise the body can't be controlled. If the soul gem is not returned to that radius within two days, the body will start to rot.

Tiro Duet: A duo move with Mami Tomoe, if she happens to appear. Mami attaches magical ribbons to the ends of Madoka's energy arrows, which can be used to tie things up/repair things/deal damage.

Soul gem corruption: Soul gems become muddied when magical girls expend magical energy. Canon has provided several ways for a soul gem to be cleansed: grief seeds from witches, "grief cubes" from wraiths, or the energy from a Nightmare being purified. Ultimately, when despair is vanquished, the means to purify a soul gem is given.

A soul gem can be completely corrupted when a magical girl brings about an amount of despair equal to the amount of hope her wish created. In a world without the Law of Cycles (Madoka), the soul gem turns into a grief seed, and the magical girl becomes a witch. With the Law of Cycles, the soul gem is purified and destroyed, and the magical girl simply disappears.

I don't anticipate Madoka's soul gem becoming this corrupted unless it comes before she leaves the game, because she'll only be using her magic in specific situations, and because of her nature as the Law of Cycles.

Madoka, the Law of Cycles

This form, even if used, probably wouldn't have much effect on the setting, as she is only able to influence other magical girls.

Bow and arrow: In this form, Madoka has only used this weapon twice: the first time, she shot an infinite number of energy arrows that were sent across space and time to purify the soul gems of all magical girls. The second time, she used it to destroy her own witch.

Soul gem purification: When a magical girl's soul gem is spent, Madoka appears to them and purifies it, taking all of their despair onto herself. The soul gem, and the magical girl, then disappear, and go to live with Madoka in what is pretty much magical girl Heaven.
OTHER: A note on Madoka's memories in this canon point: She remembers fighting Nightmares with her friends, when a magical girl's real targets are wraiths, and her real target is witches. She also doesn't remember what she really is, or that she's really supposed to be purifying Homura's soul gem as the Law of Cycles.

This is because of the false memories given to her when she entered Homura's witch's barrier trapped inside Homura's soul gem.

GAME INFO;

MAGIC ABILITY: Madoka will have the ability to fully heal a person, no matter how grave the injury, but only once every 24 hours.
PRICE: A notebook containing sketches of Madoka's potential magical girl costumes. I'd like for this to be what would cause Madoka to remember who she truly is.
ACCLIMATION: 5. Madoka is used to weird places (The landscapes a Nightmare can create are bizarre and make little physical sense), so exploring a new setting shouldn't be a problem for her.

However, once she discovers that she can't transform into a magical girl at first, she would have a really difficult time because she would feel useless and unable to help anybody. She also remembers having a deep bond with the other four magical girls in the series, and would miss them dearly.
